Tridonic’s ZhagaBook20-specified solution seamlessly integrate real-time occupancy and safety insights into global lighting ecosystem using Calumino’s disruptive thermal sensing technology.
Frankfurt, March 2026 – At Light + Building 2026, Tridonic and Calumino unveiled the first thermal sensing solution designed for luminaries using Zhaga 20-specified cut-outs and further integration into intelligent lighting networks. The jointly developed MVP demonstrates how high-accuracy occupancy and safety detection can be embedded directly into standardized luminaire platforms, enabling privacy-preserving building intelligence at scale.
At the core of the solution is Calumino’s breakthrough thermal imaging technology, powered by proprietary embedded edge analytics that deliver highly accurate, real-time occupancy and safety detection while preserving privacy. Unlike conventional PIR or camera-based sensors, Calumino’s solid-state thermal sensing enables unmatched spatial awareness, reliable multi-person detection, and consistent performance regardless of ambient light conditions.
This advanced sensing capability is fully integrated into Tridonic’s ultra-compact sensor housing, combining precision optics, optimized thermal management, and high-performance electronics in a miniaturized form factor. The result is seamless luminaire integration with standardized Zhaga-specified cutouts and full interoperability across global lighting ecosystems.
The platform is engineered to natively integrate into Tridonic’s wireless lighting infrastructure, with commissioning and configuration handled directly via the basicDIM Wireless app. This ensures rapid deployment, secure communication, and intuitive setup for installers and system integrators.
By embedding intelligent thermal analytics directly into the lighting network, the solution transforms luminaires into distributed sensing nodes. Building operators gain access to actionable occupancy intelligence, enhanced safety monitoring, improved space utilization insights, and data-driven energy optimization — all delivered within a discreet, standards-based design that simplifies specification and future-proofs installations.
“This partnership with Tridonic represents a powerful alignment of innovation and global reach for Calumino. By combining our advanced thermal sensing and edge AI capabilities with Tridonic’s deep expertise in intelligent lighting infrastructure, we are accelerating the delivery of smarter and more energy-efficient spaces.” says Yalcin Bulut, CEO of Calumino. “Together, we can seamlessly integrate real-time occupancy and safety insights directly into global smart lighting systems, unlocking new value for users, building owners and operators.”
Through this collaboration, Tridonic and Calumino reaffirm their shared commitment to engineering excellence, international standardization, and the development of high-performance, future-ready sensor solutions for connected indoor lighting environments.
