Collaboration delivers new levels of occupancy accuracy and people counting within Hytronik’s True Occupancy™ sensor portfolio
Frankfurt, Germany – March 8, 2026 – Light + Building – Calumino and Hytronik today announced a strategic technology collaboration that integrates Calumino’s high-precision thermal detection capabilities into Hytronik’s True Occupancy™ sensor portfolio. As part of an expanded partnership, Hytronik has incorporated next-generation thermal sensing modules from Calumino into upcoming products that will deliver advanced occupancy intelligence in building automation and control system (BACS).
As buildings increasingly rely on accurate occupancy data to optimise lighting, HVAC and space utilization within modern building management systems (BMS), detection precision has become a critical performance factor for automated control strategies.
By embedding Calumino’s compact, privacy non-intrusive medium-resolution intelligent thermal sensing technology within its established platform of True Occupancy™, Hytronik enhances occupancy detection accuracy and enables more precise people counting—complementing its existing product portfolio.
This added layer of thermal intelligence represents a new step forward for applications where higher precision presence detection or reliable people counting is required, while continuing to address persistent challenges such as false triggering, missed detection in low-movement environments, and limitations in conventional sensing approaches.
“Thermal based privacy-non-intrusive occupancy data is very powerful because it tells you where people are and how they move without needing to know who they are,” said Yalcin Bulut, CEO of Calumino. “Our collaboration with Hytronik demonstrates how advanced sensing technology can be seamlessly integrated into proven smart building platforms to deliver measurable performance improvements.
”Hytronik’s True Occupancy portfolio is part of the company’s strategy to use lighting as the backbone for wireless sensor networks within buildings, expanding sensing capabilities to strengthen building management systems.
The integration of thermal intelligence from Calumino strengthens sensor fusion capabilities, improving detection reliability in complex environments, and enabling more accurate, data-driven energy and space management.
“Regulations such as EPBD and Part L, together with sustainability certifications like BREEAM, LEED and WELL, are increasingly driving requirements around energy efficiency, and performance monitoring” said Rubén Tarascó, Head of Market Strategy – Europe at Hytronik. “By integrating Calumino’s thermal detection technology, we enhance occupancy accuracy and enable buildings to reduce unnecessary energy consumption through more precise, data-driven control.”
Both Calumino (Hall 8, Booth E89) and Hytronik (Hall 8, Booth D90) will be exhibiting at Light + Building 2026, March 8-13, in Frankfurt, Germany, the world’s leading trade fair for lighting and building services technology.
